Take a Trip Through History with the Bruce Museum

Madagascar and the Deadly Sins come to Stamford and the Bruce Museum

The Bruce Museum has been a one of the top museums in Stamford CT since it opened more than 100 years ago. Visitors to this popular attraction can revel in more 15,000 pieces of fine art, historical artifacts and scientific discoveries. While it can be fun to bring the whole family, this is one of the things to do in Stamford CT geared more towards adults. Spend a day out of the sun enjoying art, science and natural history with friends.

Bruce MuseumOn display from April 11 through November 8, 2015, the Madagascar Ghosts of the Past exhibit at the Bruce Museum brings you closer to the 88 million years of history locked onto Madagascar. Visitors will learn about three distinct periods of Madagascar history. The journey begins with the giant dinosaurs that once ruled the Earth. Next on the Malagasy history tour, learn about a variety of extinct animals including the elephant bird, which laid eggs equivalent to the volume of 150 chicken eggs. Finally, the journey through time returns to the present. See the affect humankind has had on this mysterious island.

The Seven Deadly Sins: Pride is a new installation and will display from June 27 through October 18, 2015. It features art pieces, historical artifacts and video presentations. The central theme tying all of these pieces together is the pride of man as well as the inevitable fall that always follows. From May 2 through September 6, 2015, enjoy 7-foot tall oil studies at the Walls of Color: The Murals of Hans Hofmann exhibit. Visit the Bruce Museum website to find more information about their current exhibits.

After a day at Bruce Museum, our Hilton Stamford Hotel & Executive Meeting Center is happy to invite visitors over for a nightcap in our lounge or a bite to eat in our fine dining restaurant. Find out more about our hotel by visiting our website.

So, why not take a short break from your work to plan a family mini vacation? You can schedule a weekend of museum visits, with a special emphasis on the natural history collections of the Stamford Museum & Nature Center. Museums in Stamford CT feature history, art, nature and science displays that will fascinate and entertain. Plus, the memories you create while exploring the rich heritage of the Constitution State are sure to last a lifetime.

Stamford Museum & Nature CenterIn addition to the natural history collections, there are many family-oriented activities at the museum. You and your family can choose to celebrate International Mud Day, and learn all there is to know about soil and the ecological conditions required to create healthy earth. You can even stomp through the mud together and splash around in this amazing interactive exhibit.

You might decide to see what a day in the life of a Connecticut farmer is like. You can learn how to milk a cow, groom a horse and care for baby animals.

If weather permits, you and your family can choose to explore the night sky together at the museum’s observatory. While there, you will learn about the stars and trace out constellations as you view the heavens through a 22-inch research telescope.

To make your exciting weekend complete, we invite you to stay at Hilton Stamford Hotel and Executive Meeting Center. We are located only 5 miles from the Stamford Museum and within 10 miles of several other museums in CT, making us central to an unforgettable museum getaway weekend.
